-ed Ending (ID Sound)
The -ed ending pronounced as /ɪd/ after words ending in t or d sounds. This creates an extra syllable and is the only -ed pronunciation that adds a syllable.
First say the short /ɪ/ vowel (relaxed tongue position), then the tip of the tongue touches the alveolar ridge for the /d/ sound. This creates a two-sound syllable.
