L'anglais a deux sons TH. Thin /θɪn/ a le sourd. This /ðɪs/ a le sonore. Mêmes lettres, sons différents. Comment savoir lequel utiliser ? La plupart des manuels disent "mémorisez". Une règle existe et fonctionne presque toujours.
Les deux sons TH
- /θ/ - sourd : seulement de l'air. thin, think, math, three.
- /ð/ - sonore : la gorge vibre. this, that, mother, breathe.
La règle en trois parties

Le groupe THR est toujours sourd : three, throw, throat, threat.

- booth, with, smooth - varient
- Thomas, Thames, Theresa - /t/
- Thai - /t/
